HEALTHY HEART CLASSES BECOME TACHYCARDIC

11.12.34am GMT Wed 7th Mar 2007

Healthy Heart Classes are, apparently, being threatened with closure due to lack of funding and some of the rehabilitation nurses are facing redundancy.

Jenny Randerson, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Health Spokesperson, said "this is yet another blip on the NHS monitor that could have far-reaching consequences.

"These classes are a lifeline to people who have suffered severe heart problems in the past and have undergone extensive and expensive surgery. They provide vital support in helping them to regain their confidence and lead a normal and active life.

"Rather than scaling down the Cardiac Rehabilitation Service, it should be extended so that even more heart patients can benefit from the service".
