Randerson Welcomes Recycling Improvements

2.02.30pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 20th Apr 2007

Recycling and composting performance for 2006/07 has dramatically increased to 19.4% (11.7% recycled and 7.7% composted). Cardiff Central AM Jenny Randerson said "This big improvement is proof that all the hard work put in to recycling services by Cardiff Council is paying off. Having visited the state of the art recycling plant myself I am not surprised at the improvement.

"We started from a low base after years of Labour underinvestment but we are now on the road to recovery. The Recycling Wheeled Bin roll out programme is now implemented in 98% of Cardiff's households.

"Some wards in this city are already recycling and composting up to 50% of their waste put on the curbside, this is a credit to the residents and the Council

"The Welsh Liberal Democrat Council, aided by residents, is delivering a fair green future for the people of Cardiff."
