Randerson slams Labour/Plaid refusal to acknowledge student debts.2.16.37pm GMT Thu 24th Jan 2008
Cardiff Central AM Jenny Randerson has reacted angrily to the refusal of Labour and Plaid Cymru Assembly Members to recognise the problems caused by student debt to students.. In a Liberal Democrat debate on personal debt in the Assembly yesterday, Labour and there junior Government colleagues in Plaid Cymru voted to remove a reference to students and the specific problems over debt that they face. Jenny Randerson said: "I was appalled by the behaviour of Labour and Plaid. Many students in my constituency come to see me about huge problems they have with debt. "It is unbelievable that Labour and Plaid refuse to even acknowledge this. At best, they are burying their heads in the sand, at worst it is like they just don't care. "I will continue to fight tuition fees and top-up fees. They are a barrier to university and cause huge hardship and stress to students. I am disappointed that the Governing parties fail to acknowledge this." Notes: 1. Jenny Randerson AM and Jenny Willott MP hold regular advice surgeries for all constituents living in Cardiff Central. These are held every Friday at 3.30pm at 99 Woodville Road, Cathays. No appointment is necessary Ends/
