Jenny Randerson has congratulated UWIC on all their work towards being included in the guide.

It was announced today that the UWIC campus in Cyncoed, Cardiff has been included in the London 2012 Pre-Games Training Camp Guide. The Guide is designed to help Olympic Associations from across the world find suitable training venues in the run-up to the 2012 Games.

Jenny Randerson , Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for Cardiff Central, which includes Cyncoed, said: "I am thrilled that the UWIC Campus has been included in the Training Camp Guide. A lot of work has been taking place at UWIC to improve their facilities and this is recognition that we now have some of the world's best facilities here in Cardiff.

"We can now potentially see athletes from all over the world coming to our Capital City for the few months, or ever years, in the lead up to 2012. With the Millennium Stadium having already hosted many world famous sporting events and the Ashes cricket test match being held in 2009 Cardiff is already proving itself as a sporting city. This announcement shows that the world now considers Cardiff as a Sporting Capital."

The facilities in UWIC will also be available for young people across Wales who want to study sport to train. If it's good enough for the Olympics, it's good enough for the young people of Wales.
