Commenting on data from Royal Bank of Scotland showing Credit Card debt is still growing by as much as 5.9% year on year, Welsh Lib Dem Shadow Economy Minister, Jenny Randerson AM said:
"While other unsecured debt is slowing, these figures show the Labour Government is still presiding over the plastic nation. People are clearly relying increasingly on credit cards to get through the recession. This will have one clear effect: the recession will be longer and deeper, and more difficult for Welsh families to recover from.
"We need sustained action to help people manage their finances and not slide further in to debt. It's time for action on this."
