New figures show the most vulnerable are the most battered by recession - Randerson

Commenting on figures showing higher inflation rates for the poor and elderly, and new figures from Job Centre Plus showing a huge increase in demand for crisis loans, Welsh Lib Dem Shadow Economy Minister, Jenny Randerson AM said:

"Those who spend most of their income on home fuel and food are facing a far harder time of it at the moment than those who have more expendable income, who are seeing sharp falls in inflation because of lower mortgage payments,

"The fact that Job Centre Plus saw an increase of 25% in the number of applications for crisis loans last year is illustrative of how much people are struggling. We are now seeing the recession absolutely battering the poorest and most vulnerable people in Wales. This is where more help and support needs to be targeted."
